Frequently Asked Questions

A quick guide to how this map works, what's on it, and how we use the reports communities send in.

Purpose

This website was created to give people a platform to speak up and voice concerns about AI data centers in their communities.

Are all AI data centers plotted on this map?
No. This map is a work in progress. Our focus is on community members who want to report concerns about AI data centers near them.
How are the "Community Reported" numbers populated on the map?
We receive hundreds of submissions daily through our form. Each one is read and reviewed. Reports without a zip code, city, or sufficient information are not plotted at this time. We also remove duplicates.
Does every "Community Reported" data point represent an AI data center?
No. Reports fall into several categories: AI data centers already operating, facilities under construction, and rumored or proposed projects.
What is the purpose of this map?
To give people a voice and help everyone across all states see the bigger picture of how rapidly AI data centers are being developed. The public should not be the last to know.
Will more features be added to the map?
Yes. We have many updates planned, but building them takes time. Thank you for your patience.
Why aren't all data centers shown on this map?
There are over 4,000 data centers operating in the U.S., many built before the AI boom. This map isn't intended to show every data center. It's focused on locations where community members are actively voicing concerns.

Have a data center to report?

If there's an AI data center near you — operating, under construction, or rumored — send it in and we'll add it to the map.
